A Stableford Day

We had another good day at the Florida Club for our Stableford Flights Event.  Thirty-six women came out to play and we had several winners.  There were three chip-ins:  Joan Rowley, Diane Nolterieke and Rose Langley.  It was a good day for Rose because she won CTP on #6.  Sheila Conversano had a great shot on #14 and she won that CTP. 

There were three places paid in each of our three flights:

Gold Flight:  1st - Judy Hlavacek, 2nd - Lori Desruisseaux, 3rd - Dolores Ainsworth
Blue Flight:  1st - Diane Nolterieke, 2nd - Loretta Moffatt, 3rd - Vera Haller (Welcome Back!)
White Flight:  1st - Ann Young, 2nd - Daixa Kops, 3rd - Barbara Berthiaume

For all of you who will still be here next week, the event will be a Stableford event, Odd Holes In, then the week after will be Even Holes In - also Stableford.  I will be leaving to go up to the cold northeast and will not be posting for the next two Thursdays.  Looking ahead to our first event of 2012, our January 5th event will be a team event - Team Metropolitan.

Blind Partners Event

First, thanks to Bobby for scoring this event.  This one seems to take a while once we all get in.

Yes, it was a bit chilly today but 32 of us started AND finished!!  Four places were played once we found out who our partners were.  There was a scorecard playoff for 2nd and 3rd places.

1st place:  Joanne Merrell and Carolyn Benninger (+10)
2nd place:  Anna Bellantoni and Ann Young (+7)
3rd place:  Lydia Cesario and Deb Pfogner (+7)
4th place:  Loretta Moffat and Sue Beale (+4)

Our closet-to-the-pin contests were held on #6 and #17.  Merlynn Johnston was closest on #6 and Carolyn Benninger on #17.

All in all another successful week, even though it does seem to take a while to warm up.  Our event next week will be Stableford Flights.  For all of you heading out early, we wish you a very happy Christmas!!

Team Denver (Step-Aside) Results

Perhaps we will change the title of this event so everyone knows what it is by just looking at the title.  Team Denver is also known as Step-Aside.  That says it all.  Team Denver is a bit intimidating.

Even though it was a little chilly when we started I think everyone will agree that it was a gorgeous day for golf.  Twenty-eight of us "braved" the cold and came on out.  Bobby payed two places and the scores were all pretty decent.

First place team:  Tina Thees, Loretta Moffat, Michele Yablonski, and Joan Rowley   [71]
Second place team:  Carolyn Benninger, Bev Hopwood, Joan Martin and Bonnie Barnes ("double B")  [74]
There was only ONE chip-in.  Joan Martin chipped in on #11.

Closet-to-the-Pin contests were held on #6 and #14.  Barbara Davis won #6 and Dolores Ainsworth on #14.

Next Week's event will be a Stableford event - Blind Partners.

NOSE Results

I know it is a strange name, but here are the results for our event of the day - NOSE.  Three places in three flights were paid. 
Flight 1 winners were:   Merlynn Johnston (1st), Judy Gordon (2nd)
and Nancy Giannetti (3rd)
Flight 2 winners were:   Caryl Collins (1st), Sue Weiner (2nd), and Terri Lewis (3rd)
Flight 3 winners were:   Daixa Kops (1st), Bonnie Barnes (2nd) and Ann Young (3rd)

There were several chip-ins:  Carolyn Benninger, Caryl Collins, Daixa Kops,
Mary Fisher (TWO)

The two Closet-to-the-Pins were won by Kendra Copeland and Carolyn Benninger.

As next week is Thansgiving we will not be playing but will resume our events on Thursday, December 1st with a TEAM event - Team Denver.  This will be a handicapped event, not stableford.

The officers want to thank everyone for getting to the club by 7:45 and being ready to get out on the course.  We are all getting used to our routines and things seem to be running smoothly.

For those of you interested, there is a page in our book that explains how to log into GolfNet.  Once in, you can post scores, check your handicap, see your scoring record and check for the Thursday pairings.  You do need to register if you are a new user.  Diane has printed a step-by-step process on the last page of our Little Red Book.  It is a very helpful website with tons of information available.

Our First Stableford Event

Our first stableford event was held on November 10th.  This was a new event for some of our new members and I hope they found it fun.  Although I was not around I know that it was a good day for many of you.

Adrienne Frattinno and Merlyn Johnston won the closet to the pin contests and Lenore Green and Ann Young got the only chip-ins.  Great work ladies!!

Off and Running

Our first Thursday of the new year is complete and I know we all had a wonderful time.  We had 42 members and 1 guest tee off at 8:00 AM.  Although the course is still a little wet we finished our rounds and posted our team scores.
